A good compromise would be studying an easy major at UCSB. Go in with a bunch of guys renting a SFH or duplex unit. If you can't get into UCSB immediately you could attend SBCC then transfer in. This plan has been followed by many.

Sounds like a plan. I will finish out my first year at Las Positas and make a move to Santa Barabara in a few months. From there I am assuming if I have the grades its very likely that UCSB accepts me because I will be local already? Please tell me thats how it works.

The contradiction in the op is so evident.

Does the education come before, during or after the DUI, jail and unintended pregnancies?

Who said anything about unprotected sex, drinking and driving, and/or breaking the law? One can have fun responsibly now, then get focused and get down to business later. (Or, as BAH suggested, have fun while putting up a facade of responsibility.)

I wish I would have had the foresight like the OP does to get it out of my system while I was still a young whippersnapper.

this shows how little you know: being local will have little to do with getting accepted. You are still going to have to pay out of state tuition. Have you looked into the cost of that? I don't care what your past has been like, you do not sound like a young man that is thinking to clearly. If you are 19, and in your first year of CC now, you will not be anywhere near 30 when you are really able to make a decent living. then move to CA or wherever. I guess, what you really posted for was to see how many agreed with you. I guess you have found more who say: take it slow than come on and live it up. Most of those who have said come and live it up and doing it, tongue in cheek.

Confirmation on how males mature much slower than females.

I personally can't imagine wanting to go back to 14-17 when 20-23 can be just as fun...if not more.

I'm sure there are more older people that wished they'd managed their "system" better and not now depend on social security and ACA.

The OP has foresight? Doubtful. His parents maybe. Foresight involves planning for the future, not giving away the present.

Facade of responsibility, now there is something to strive for.
