Does anyone know -- are there TWO wild fires burning near LA now?

I know there's the 8000 acre Tuna fire near Burbank and Glendale, but I also just saw that evacuations have been ordered in Redlands and Beaumont for a different, 3,000 acre fire.

Evacuations ordered as brush fire spreads in Redlands-Beaumont area | abc7.com

There hasn't been much coverage on this second fire. Does anyone know what's going on in that area?

The wind down here in eastern San Diego County has been howling this afternoon-- hope that's not the case up there.

Best wishes to anyone affected by these fires. It's that time of year again. People outside of California always ask us whether we worry about earthquakes and I always say, no we worry about FIRES!

So sorry you are experiencing this too, Rosie. It's been bad the last few days but today has been the worst in my area (Lodi). It seems there are a lot of fires burning and causing the orange sky along with scratchy throat and headaches. Today was especially uncomfortable. Fires in Oregon are sending smoke into the northern most region of the state, too. It's been a miserable year for fires all along the western states. Checking the map, here's a glimpse of all the fires burning in California right now. It appears you have several in your area

They don't call it Redlands for nothing, do they?

The Palmer Fire is now up to 3000 acres and evacuations have been ordered:

I read somewhere fireworks were the suspected cause.

Rosie, there is a fire by you burning right now called the "Border Fire". You may be experiencing the effects at least in terms of air quality. It should be nothing as it is 130 acres and 75% contained.

Slightly off topic, but there are several bad fires up North, Butte & Trinity counties, thousands evacuated.

Is that coming from the fire in southern Oregon? They've got a pretty bad one up there. Evacuations (so I hear) in and around Ashland

We have a 17,418 acre with 0% containment just 15 miles up the road from me. It started on August 29. It's growing by more than 3,000 acres a day. Heading toward some large groves of giant sequoia trees. Also heading down toward the town of Springville. Borate bombers and helicopters have even been flying at night....very dangerous for the pilots. Some of it is in or heading toward the Sequoia National Monument area where thinning out dead stuff isn't allowed or roads into it. What a mess. Smoke extremely bad here in the valley.....cough cough.

Hope you guys down south and up north get your fires put out soon. Yours appear to be where more structures are involved. Ours will be soon if they don't get some kind of handle on this thing.
