And six to eight democratic senators so, no, I doubt Republicans would vote for that. Either side which comes out behind would filibuster so it is DOA and the sooner the sore losers figure that out the sooner they can actually start doing something constructive which will help them actually win elections. THAT is what Republicans have been avoiding doing so far. If they want to win elections they actually have to appeal to the majority of voters. Yes, playing games like trying to prevent minorities from voting might help them in the short run but in the long run that's poison so they should stop trying to pull that crap and instead change their policies to ones which would actually get support from the majority of voters. They've painted themselves into a corners calling anyone to the left of Genghis Khan a "RINO", forcing out winning candidates who vote with them 90% of the time only to have their extremist candidates lose to Democrats who won't vote with them ever. They can either be an ideologically pure party without any power who loses every election or they can realize its a big country and they're going to need the moderate voters to vote for them if they want to win. They're currently too extreme, they've gotten too far away from where the voters are, and THAT will have to change if they want to actually win.

Either that or they can keep pinning their hopes on gerrymandering and praying for low voter turn out. That won't do it most of the time though so unless they stop pissing off women, minorities, and people who live in cities then they'll just have to be happy as the party who never wins the Presidency or the senate.

In order for this to happen it would have to pass a majority on the vote, likely in each and every one of the proposed new states, it would have to pass both houses of the state legislature, the governor would have to sign it, then both houses of Congress would have to sign it, and finally the President would have to sign it. The odds of that happening are asymptotic to zero.

It's a pipe dream by Republicans who desperately don't want to change or come up with anything new, who are upset that the voters continually rejected their failed policies, and rather than dealing with that reality they scream and rage about how they want to take their marbles and go home. They're emotional children and if they want to actually start winning they're going to have to grow up and do the hard work of changing their platform and deciding what matters most to them and what they can actually compromise on because playing their extremist "my way or the highway" games are why voters ditched them and put a super majority of Democrats in office.

Or, I guess, they can continue losing and refusing to adapt to the times but then they'll continue to be locked out of any power because voters are that sick of them always obstructing and refusing to do anything constructive. They have no one to blame but themselves but they still won't admit it least of all to themselves.

Default Absolutely absurd

Another stupid Republican idea. I'm voting AGAINST it, and so are about 100 of my colleagues. The most racist, narrow-minded in CA can't make this happen.

That way, all the crazy liberal Democrats who have destroyed this state can live in one area with all the low income illegals they support and continue to support and cater to them and hand out money to people too lazy to work. They can take all the guns away and keep passing ridiculous laws every year further controlling peoples lives as they love to do. The rest of us sane people who value freedom and working for what you get can live in our own state.
I'll second those thoughts and statement!!!!

And now if we can just do something about the "State of Jefferson" crackpots spreading their insanity around the rest of NorCal!

Conspiracy theorists, firearms fetish — and now a Jefferson State Town Hall meeting in our community

Nevada and Placer counties now being targeted for State of Jefferson movement

If they all want to concentrate their bluster into their own little clubhouse, that would be fine. Unfortunately, a clusterfudge of angry people packing heat looking for a fight might be a most dangerous place. We'll call it Not OK Corral.
