I'm actually South of The Gate. We've got plum trees going full force and the apricot trees are well along. The apples have not really hit yet. The drought has certainly accelerated turning this year.

I've noticed quite a few trees turning color from the drought. Mainly Dogwoods and Bigleaf Maple in the foothills. I've also noticed a shrub by the name of Rhus trilobata (sorry, can't remember the common name) changing color. Other than that, it is about a month early for fall color for the low and mid elevations, except for Chinese pistacio.

Yep,

Its the first time I've ever seen Aspens changing color this early before. During a backpacking trip a couple of weeks ago I was very surprised to see hundreds of Aspens changing at ~ 9000' elevation in the eastern Sierra near Mammoth. I love quaking Aspens in the Fall... only it wasn't Fall yet.

Yup, have been up in the Sierra off and on for the last month setting an checking game cameras in preparation for deer season. Aspens are turning as we type.

As Derek posted above mainly above 7000' so far.
