According to Reuters, more than 808,000 signatures for a November 2016 ballot initiative will be filed with California Secretary of State Debra Bowen on Tuesday, thereby qualifying for a popular vote.

I will be voting in favor. More responsive government, lower taxes. Chop California.

Will never happen. It's just a way to get Republicans more power.

It'll turn a solidly Democrat state into 2 solid democrat states, 3 solid republican states, and 1 swing state. Funny how that works.

I still wish someone would explain to me why A) The Inland Empire and Central Valley are 'the abscess of the west", "we laugh at you", "you are a drain on our image and economy", "you are not even a people worthy of a three-fifths vote", and B) "over our dead bodies we'll let you secede".

Lol 808,000 in a state this big doesn't exactly demonstrate the will of the people. Not sure that is even.allowable under the CA constitution. In fact, I doubt it. Besides, where would Socal get water? Would suck to be them if it did happen .

Water rights are pretty complicated. Not sure much would change.

I know that there would be 10 more Senate seats. My concern would be in the House. Not sure if republicans would gain or lose, or that the entire former California would be a net loser in the House. Maybe just a seat or two, but remember that a very small state like Jefferson might end up with only one House member.

The net result might result in more liberals in Congress

808,000 in a state of almost 40 million is nothing. Laughable.

Well if this passes people will finally realize water is an East-West issue not a North-South issue.
Exhibit A: Hetch Hetchy
Exhibit B: The South Bay Aqueduct

Good, we only have 12 Republicans to 28 Democrats right now. Its not healthy for either party to have such a large advantage. I signed the ballot and will vote in favor of it although I don't think we need 6 separate states. Three (North, Central and South) would be ideal or at least North and South. That way, all the crazy liberal Democrats who have destroyed this state can live in one area with all the low income illegals they support and continue to support and cater to them and hand out money to people too lazy to work. They can take all the guns away and keep passing ridiculous laws every year further controlling peoples lives as they love to do. The rest of us sane people who value freedom and working for what you get can live in our own state.

I believe that breaking down to three states would be a good thing, but the proposal of six is idiotic.

Good luck on making this happen Californians! I'd love to see someone finally go through with it so the floodgates would be open for splitting up a lot of other states thus giving people smaller and more responsive state governments.
