Kind of amazing. So far we've not had a single libertarian jump in to rant about nanny state excess preferring chickens over the welfare of Californians' wallets. Everybody loves eggs and chickens, and are apparently willing to pay a bit extra to see the industry more humane.

Crept for maybe Phil Mikelson who is voting with his feet, leaving California. One can only assume it has something to do with the rise in egg prices along with his taxes.

The libertarian thing to do is to go DIY. But yes, as Colonel Sanders said, "everybody loves chicken".

Or......how about encouraging people to eat other food...healthier food? Most people don't have the space to raise hens.

In any case, the caricature of a "libertarian" being mentioned here is silly....akin to the caricature of a liberal that cares more about spotted owls than people. Being libertarian doesn't mean you're against all government regulation...nor does it mean you support abusive practices towards animals.

Um yes, it was. Intentionally. By me. Called satire.

Certainly. And I indulge in that at times as well.

Actually home-raised chicken and eggs are quite healthy, and even just a couple hens in a small enclosure out on your veranda would provide fresh eggs nearly every day. But OK, "other food" like what… unless you mean stuff raised by 'agribusiness' that's full of pesticides, GMO's, hormones, and preservatives?

And BTW, often raised in many Political forums is the issue of defining exactly what a "Libertarian" is, since they seem to take just as many 'liberties' even with the definition. Especially since many of the Ayn Rand types apparently have no tolerance for any 'gubmint regulation' at all!
