...in AZ. Thats the second new operation in a row Apple has opened outside of their home state. Whats that say about the business climate in CA when the most profitable company in the world chooses to build new facilities in other states instead of CA? Not good.

Apple announces $2B global command center in Arizona

Plenty or renewable energy in AZ (sunlight), which is what they want to make use of. I don't see how this is a knock on the CA business climate. Ridiculous.

Just down the road, filming is going on right now at De Anza College for the next Steve Jobs movie, with Seth Rogen, Jeff Bridges, and Kate Winslet. Lots of folks in 80's garb swirling around the Flint Center today.

A reminder that Silicon Valley didn't pop up yesterday, and will do just fine going forward. (That giant space ship going up is Jobs' vision)

Well of course, that's going to be their new home. Most of their employees live in CA. However, these other projects they are starting up could easily be built here in CA but they have chosen TX and now AZ. If you don't find it alarming that the most profitable company in the world looks to build in much cheaper states with better business incentives, you don't understand business and how bad this is for CA.

If you didn't the article carefully, this is a result of a botched deal between Apple and another company that went bankrupt. Apple is simply taking over the old facility it already owned and converting it for another use.

You should actually read the articles you post, mbell.

I think he reads them, he just counts on no one else reading them. It is a popular technique that even the authors use, make a big scary headline that is unfounded by the facts.

I know that. The issue is, Apple is buying land and opening facilities OUTSIDE OF CA, the place they have called home for almost 40 years. Why would they be doing this thousands of miles from their home base? The same reason Toyota and a ton of other businesses have left this corrupt state, its ridiculous costs and business practices.

First of all it would be unheard of for a large global company like Apple to NOT open other facilities outside of their home state or country. You don't seem to get that.

Also since your reading comprehension needs improvement I will break it down for you:

-2 years ago Apple and GT Technologies teamed up and bought an existing building in AZ to make sapphire glass materials for their products.

-GT fell into bankruptcy.

-Apple is now left with an empty facility that is now standing idle collecting dust.

-Someone from Apple's top brass had an idea. "Since we bought a building for nothing why don't we actually use it! How about a command center! Yay!!"

There is nothing about this piece of news that suggests anything about California's business climate. Since you're hopelessly out of the loop here's a thread to keep you up to date on things California economy related : California Economic Expansion and Jobs Creation Thread
