I'm looking for a mountainous area with cabins for rent in Southern CA. We will be going in February, and taking an 8 month old baby. I'm looking for something with reasonably priced cabins, nice hiking, and roughly no more than a 3 hour drive from LA. I was thinking of Idyllwild in the San Bernardino area, but have been there many times already. New ideas would be great!

Maybe they're worried about liability because there's a pool. An 8-month old isn't walking anywhere. I'd give them a call and ask if an infant would be okay.

Default Check out Big Bear...

We used to live in Crestline and we went to Big Bear often.

What about Lake Arrowhead? Far more beautiful than Idyllwild. But with this El Nino, forget about hiking in February!

Educate me, do you think it would be too rainy because of the storm?

I emailed them, but after looking at the pictures, I'm thinking they figure children may damage the property (exterior furnishings), and I also noticed a further note stating "quiet adults." They're probably worried about noise, also. I'll see what they say! Otherwise I'll have to look into that place when I take a break from the kids!
