I need to find a safe place in California where I can pay max $700 a month, preferably nowhere hot if possible. And please no border towns as I don't know any Spanish. Low-Income and Affordable Housing are also options, but good luck finding any with open wait lists! I realize $700 is really low but in hoping you can help me. Thanks
I set the rent at $750 because there was no choice to pick $700. These are hotpad listings, there shouldn't be any room rentals, just apartments and homes. You can move the map all over California and see what's available. A number of these are in safe areas, but quite a few are rural and it might be hard to find a job in those areas.

Merced and Visalia. Redding has low rent, too. Eureka has some for $600 a month or lower.

There are some scenic areas not far from Redding and you likely would be able to find something there that would fit your budget.....one negative though it gets HOT up there.

OP, do you have to work? If not, the north coast would probably work out for you. Apartments in Eureka, Fortuna, Crescent City, etc. can be had for $700 if you look hard enough and are patient. Do you have pets? If not that will make your search WAY easier.

Thread revival!

Hot inland areas where lots of people speak Spanish? I can think of a few.

The Central Valley, the Inland Empire, the Coachella Valley, the Imperial Valley, the Palo Verde Valley...

Where else?...

Much of the North State is cheaper for rents, but it is very hot here in summer. Op wanted no heat.

Stockton, Modesto would be places to look, especially since you're already in San Jose. Maybe Salinas?

Folks, the original poster has not been on City Data for over a year.

How about we just let this thread go quietly back into the dead folder?
