That's the worst part. I don't think many people have actually calculated what they are losing to support entitlements in California. If you know the number and are actually okay with it, then I can respect that.

But the tards running around here claiming all is great in the state are sort of annoying because they feed the monster unwittingly.

Imposs to accurately calc

For ex., cos. like AAPL, etc sell ~50% of their stuff outside US, have 50++% of their cash outside US (for various tax reasons) and prob 95+% of highest paid workers or owners of co. reside in affluent parts of CA or NYC

US is essentially Countries of CA (Seatt/Medina/AMZN/MSFT are Northern suburbs of SV), TX (world's most efficient back-offices for either SV tech or ancient NYC/Chic cos. are in suburban Dall/Aus) and the horrifically counterproductive Country of NYC/Eastern US which tends to have a parasitic, EU-like commie/crony capitalist economy that CA/TX essentially finance

Much like how SV effectively pays bills for commie towns like SF which on own have puny economies vs AAPL, GOOGL, etc which are HQd in far cheaper suburban towns 35mis S (for all kinds of tax/cost reasons, as well as fact most founders/CEOs don't choose to reside in SF itself).....hmmm

It's not true, yet.

But judging by the amount of voters in the state, and the legislation favored by the assembly and senate, the state is definitely leaning socialist now days.

Yeah it was a joke. "Communist states" dont have that kind of gdp. China is hardly communist at this point as well. Not that everything is rosey, but the "its a soshalist stayt" rubes always give me a chuckle...

What do you mean by 'no correlating source'? Wikipedia isn't a source itself, but it is thoroughly footnoted. In the case of California, France, and GDP, the sources are very clear - the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the International Monetary Fund.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...y_GDP_(nominal)

As others have noted, figures will vary by source but will also be fairly similar.

It's not true and it won't be. The term 'communism' actually has a meaning and, no, that meaning isn't "any public program or tax rate I don't like!".

Well, it's easy to write 'Kalifornia'. It's a lot harder to explain why those supposed Marxists in Sacramento keep running economic circles around all those John Galt-type paradises like Kansas and Mississippi.

Can any of you ever make the case for CA that doesn't require a snide quip against other states?

And yet you don't mention all the Kalifornia, kommiefornia, etc comments?

This is a joke online forum why would you expect serious discussion?

I assumed those were Californians or ex-pats in exile upset about policies in their home state. They involve heavy discussions about economic policy that they believe is ruining the state. Many in here just infer that X state is undesirable because it's not California.

For instance, one could say X state is cheaper, developing and offers a lot to attain a higher standard of living. The respondent on this forum might then just quip: yeah but you have to live in X state. As if that is a good retort? What does that even mean? You would be an elitist snob to infer that to have any meaning because it's not objectively quantifiable.
