Hello, I am studying civil/environmental engineering in the Midwest and would like to move to CA after I graduate. Im totally aware of the COL difference, but there are very few environmental regulations here & therefore not a lot of job opportunities in this field. I also would just like to move to your gorgeous state

Based on my searches of posted job opportunities, it's looking like Orange County has a lot of opportunity, specifically Irvine? I don't want to live there, but I could live in Costa Mesa or Newport?

Does anyone know of other areas to look into more specifically for job opps? I'd prefer Southern California but NorCal is completely worth a look as well.

Thank you!!

OP, can your university job placement office not make any suggestions re: relevant jobs in CA, or your undergrad advisor, or any of your faculty? Have you tried the CA state gov't website--maybe something in Sacramento? Environmental engineering sounds interesting, but I'm not familiar what what it entails, exactly.

Yes, I am planning to take advantage of all of those resources. Just wanted to see if anyone local had any insights, I don't think that most people 2500 miles away are super focused on the current job trends in CA. Great call on the government website, I will take a look, thanks!

Environmental engineering covers a huge spectrum, it can be policy enforcement, soil remediation, sustainable architecture or agriculture, waste water treatment, recycling, etc. My concentration is soil remediation and environmental policy.
