Greetings!

About a week ago I bought a car for the purpose of swapping parts onto my current vehicle, the car I bought came with a pink slip. Now, I want to get rid of it, perhaps sell it to a junk yard or donate it.

Here's the catch, the guy who I bought it from does not have the name on the pink slip, not even as the Buyer to whom original owner sold it to.I did not really care about the pink or late fees because my original purpose was just to get parts from the car.

I do have a signed contract from the guy who sold the car to me stating that the car will only be used as A "parts" car. I dont have plans on registering the car in my name, i just want to get rid of it. How do I do it? Please advise. I read that junkyards don't take cars wihhout proof of ownership.

Am I in big trouble? Help

I'd run the vin to see if it was stolen first. If so ...oh boy.

With a signed contract I doubt it's stolen but it's a good idea to check. If it's not stolen you can simply call a junkyard and have them get it. They aren't going to give you anything for it. You can also resell it as a parts car to someone else.

Is the Pink slip signed by the person whose name is on it?

If the engine is missing I don't think a junkyard will want it but a scrap metal yard might take it. You would have to haul it there.

My county has an "Abandoned Vehicle Abatement" program. I believe it is somehow funded by the state (although I could be very wrong about that) you might want to check with your county to see if they have a similar program.

See that is my problem. The car was never registeretes to the person who bought it from the original seller, this person then sold it to the person I bought it from.

It is a running car. It starts and runs. Has A/C and all the windows work. I mean it is a working condition car. I hope the junkyard will take it tho

What exactly, is worth buying a whole vehicle for a part?
