Hi,
We are a small family of three, four including cat who will be moving to PA soon. Wondering which apartment complexes are recommended here? 2 bedroom just fine for us. A small home maybe doable. Thanks so much!! We have a middle school aged child as well. I heard PA schools are very good.

Budget will determine if it's doable.

2Bd apartments are in the $3,500 - $6,000 range. You can find a few houses in the $4,000 range but they're mostly in $5,000 - $8,000/month range. If you're at the higher end, say $5,000 for an apartment or $6,000+ for a house you can be a bit more picky. Otherwise it's more just about finding somewhere. The cat won't make a huge difference although a few places will not take any pets or will charge additional pet rent.

Old Palo Alto (North of Oregon Ave and closer to Stanford University) is more expensive both because the location is more desirable and because the housing stock is generally nicer than the newer areas.

We would be in the 3,500-4,500 range. Do you know of any specific names of apartment complexes you would recommend? Thanks!!!
