Half Moon Bay full time in the early 90s

San Francisco part of the year in the early 2000s

San Jose part of the year until about 2010

San Jose area full time 2015-2016

The peninsula full time (Bay Area) since 2016.

Would love to live in SoCal even if for just a year.

Hello Mr5150,

San Francisco 2013-present. Probably because I would only live in 3 places in Bay Area: SF, Alameda and Marin county. Every other places - no thanks.

Redwood City 1983-1985
Half Moon Bay 1985-1993

The Bay Area in general back in the 80's was a pretty nice place to be. Weather of course was great. The job market was a wonderful way to make good money. We saved quickly over the 2 years in Redwood City and bought a home a block from the ocean in Half Moon Bay. Back then it was a dream place to be. NO traffic except on weekends in the summer when the East Bay invasion occurred sometimes. It was quiet, peaceful and free of crime. We left in 93 as the economy was changing and cost of living went crazy. Moved to Salt Lake City in 93 and moved from there in 2018 as it too was getting too crazy for us. Liberal infections and taxes on the rise.

Now there are homeless encampments behind the Safeway in the plaza there which was pristine when we lived there. Traffic is nuts on all weekends from what I'm told. They took the building moratorium off right after we left and that was the end of the peace and quiet. I'm now in a small town in rural Idaho and retired so it's the ideal scene for my wife and I. Quite another world from the one that exists in a place we once lived that's for sure. Sure, glad we're not there.
