I lived in Oakhurst for almost 30 years but moved in 2016. It is a nice little town nestled in the Sierras. We had a well which is the normal situation and never had any problems with it, even during the last drought. Crime compared to large cities is minimal. When we moved there many people did not lock their doors during the day. We lived in an area that joined the National Forrest so we saw deer, bear, fox and a rare mountain lion. It snows enough just to be pretty. The people are friendly and the schools at not great but not bad either. Yosemite’s gate is about 18 miles away and Bass Lake is right up the road and beautiful. You will have to travel about 40 miles to Fresno for major shopping and hospitals. There is an Urgent Care and a Kaiser facility. It’s a great place if you like peace and quiet. There is one caveat, forest fires can be a problem and in fact we were evacuated one time right before we moved, but the fire did not reach us. Hope this helps.

Default Do not move to oakhurst ca! Meth problems bad water and the worst inbred white trash neighbors youll ever meet

Anybody considering moving to oakhurst CA should definitely think twice.. The locals are the most unfriendly disgusting inbred white trash Meth addicts you'll ever meet this town has its own beliefs and religions and way of life.. and they love to play a bunch of games with new arrivals in the form of false cps cases and calling the sheriff on anything and everything they can even if they are growing marijuana and cooking Meth themselves.. This is definitely not a place to settle or call home run as quickly as possible.. You'll lose money your relationships and life around those degenerate incest born freaks in that town.. Property is so affordable because quality of life is awful.. Everybody wears glasses and has crossed up teeth I'm talking an in ntrusive inbred hell.. If u want good neighbors this is the last place you'll find anybody worth a damn and they will judge how you live and slander good people etc do yourself a favor and move somewhere else your life may depend on it

Sounds like a nice place, the negative that I see, are that the property taxes are kind of high in this area.
