Quote:
The message is clear: Nothing is free. Roads, bridges, tunnels, maintenance and efforts to reduce congestion all cost money and will be paid for with either taxes, tolls or a combination.
The gas tax money being used to build more Toll lanes. I guess we got the combo. Why not a lane or two for everyone to use (without an additional fee)?

Does anyone else have a problem with this?

I see the toll on the 91 fwy from the 55 entrance to McKinley in Riverside is $27 at peak to go 20 miles.

“This is the way infrastructure investment is supposed to work,” said IBTTA Executive Director and CEO Patrick Jones... Citizens get to decide when and whether to invest in those improvements. When they are ready to proceed, transportation agencies are ready to roll. And tolling is an important part of the solution.”
A poorly worded repeal isn't really the "citizens getting to decide". I don't think this would have ever passed if it had went to a straight vote (not repeal).

Widening freeways does not reduce congestion - it increases it.

It looks like this will only happen in the suburbs that already have tolls of all the highways in LA County only two have toll lane express, I don't really see room to add these on other freeways in Riverside I could see it, but not here. OC is all tolled up anyways wouldn't really make a difference for them.

They are planning a toll lane on highway 101 from SFO south to the San Mateo/Santa Clara County line so we are getting the same treatment up here. When I voted for road improvements it wasn't solely for the state to make cash hand over fist on these "Toll Lanes".

Yeah? So what?

If you owe a trillion, and you earn 2 or 3 trillion over the term of the loan, are you in the hole?

BIG numbers are scary, huh ...

Debt is only meaningful in relation to revenue.

The pension liabilities are ugly and were poorly negotiated and set. And we have learned from that to restructure better for the future ... and we are in a much better position, fortunately, than most other states to meet our commitments over the time required.

Back to your hair on fire.
