This year they almost lost their fire department and reduced their police force due to not approving a special tax for the city. Luckily, I believe they were able to pass it and adequately staff their departments.

It's sad that it became that way because it has a beautiful setting.

In the past, it was a popular place for military and civilian families from Edwards AFB to settle.

I think, if the Mojave Space Port pans out, it should be a nice place again.
if you are going to live in a desert, you might as well move to Nevada where they don't have state income tax

Damn, you know your city is a crap hole when people from Rosamond bash you.

Nevada isn't for everyone.

Lots of people don't need to gamble or be near casinos, don't like cigarette smoke and buffets and don't want a lot of other people around. Some want a more wholesome environment for their kids and families. A lot of the people in those little desert towns in California have been there for generations and there is a real sense of community.

I know it might shock you, but some people are actually okay with paying taxes.

Is Nevada all about gambling now?

if you have a similar city like that in Nevada, would you still prefer CA City?

you would be fool if you still choose CA City

If you had to pick between Tonopah NV and California City, you're telling me you'd still pick Tonopah? Really?

If the people of California City wanted to live in Nevada, they'd have all up and moved by now.

Its not that big of a flop. 15,000 people ain't bad... although I bet they thought it would be larger by now.

Most people living in or around Vegas ignore the Casino area except for work. Lived there for a while and and it was like they did not exist. The actual city is away from the casino's. Never went to them while there.

Wanting to move and being able to find an area, work and afford the move keeps a lot of people where they are. NV however is full of EX CA residents.
