Interesting, and I suppose that other cities are doing the same thing, but Aliso Viejo just announced that it is selling Disaster Preparedness Backpacks (Not COVID-19 specific) to its residents.

Beyond current concerns about COVID-19 preparedness, it may make sense to have one since we are all in earthquake country. People can look at the list and make a DYI kit.
Quote:
The Customized Kit Includes:
• 4-in-1 AM/FM Radio, Flashlight, Siren & Phone Charger
• 12-Hour Hour Light Sticks (2)
• 4-in-1 Gas & Water Shut Off Tool
• Biohazard Bag
• Pair of Pre-Packed Nitrile Gloves (2)
• Flat Fold N95 Masks (2)
• 54 Piece First Aid Kit
• Duct Tape (1 Roll)
• Adult Emergency Ponchos (2)
• Large Solar Blanket - 84’ x 52’

"California authorities said Wednesday that a person who died from Covid-19 had recently been on a cruise.

The patient, whose name wasn't released, was elderly and had underlying health conditions, and probably was exposed to the virus on a cruise from February 11 to 21 between San Francisco and Mexico, Placer County health officials said."

California county says person who died from coronavirus had recently taken cruise to Mexico:

That is the word we are getting as well. I just think we all have to calm down some. I heard yesterday that our local Sams club has more empty shelves than full due to a panic and food hording. We haven't even had a case here in AR. We all need to remember the safety tips: wash wash wash and keep our hands away from our face as much as possible and remember the masks are doing no good what so ever except making the manufacturers rich.

Here's a pretty interesting video filmed by someone living in LA. She filmed the port of Los Angeles to show how the Coronavirus is affecting cargo coming into the U.S. from abroad. I don't know what it normally looks like because I don't visit the ports but, according to this individual, it's pretty sparse. And from other "gossip" online, stores are running out of paper products and cleaning supplies.

SACRAMENTO — 3/5/20 - San Francisco reported its first cases of the new coronavirus Thursday. At the same time, passengers aboard a cruise ship being held off the California coast were being screened for the virus.

The two San Francisco patients are not related to each other and have no travel history to areas where the coronavirus has spread, officials said.

“We do not know at this point how they were exposed to the virus, which suggests it is spreading in the community,” Dr. Grant Colfax, San Francisco’s director of health, said in a statement.

Additional cases were announced elsewhere in the state Thursday, including four patients in Los Angeles County who had recently returned from a group trip to northern Italy.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the comments. YT is where you'll find the weirdest of the weird.

Just read another article where tests show the virus has mutated into two separate strains. For kicks, I went into our local Wmart to see if the reports of diminishing toilet paper was true. Yup. There must have been a run on the stuff because the shelves were just about empty. Is diarrhea a symptom of this virus? I can't imagine using THAT much toilet paper unless it is.

TP, paper towels, and water are being rationed at the Costco store on Heather Ridge Road in Laguna Niguel. People were waiting in ridiculously long lines to buy the stuff.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer but as of today, 3/5, our small Sonoma County has 3 confirmed cases and just announced that 30 healthcare workers from Sutter Hospital are now quarantined. They have been treating one of the 3 victims so there must have been some kind of contamination issue.

And it gets worse. We also found out today that on February 21, 78 passengers came home to our county from the (known outbreak) on the Mexican Riviera cruise ship. Additionally, 54 came home to Marin. The authorities never mentioned a word of this to the public, nor was anyone tested or quarantined. The virus has, most likely, been floating around our community for weeks...

The Princess cruise ships are huge so several thousand people came through San Francisco and took commercial transportation throughout the US and beyond...

Fear of this thing is far more dangerous than the virus. Why do people need to hoard food, water and TP? Is this the zombie apocalypse?

People need to calm down.
