You really should consider giving this one a rest, friend.

No thanks. I'll continue to add relevant comments as I see fit.
Interesting or not, averages matter more than isolated, wholly cherry-picked data. If this thread was just a "wow, it's hot" kinda thing, it'd be fine. But the OP is accusing people who are saying that this isn't entirely out of the ordinary for this time of year of being climate change deniers. The fact is, scientists didn't arrive at the determination of increased global temperature changes by merely examining what the temperature was in Sandberg, CA on September 5th, 2022... because that would be rather unscientific, and stupid.

Honestly, the difference between how 115f+ and/or 127f, 134f feels, isn't even noticeable. Anything over 110 is uncomfortable. I've worked in those temperatures in the Imperial Valley and it's unpleasant and unsustainable outdoors.

Didn’t suggest anything about you should stop “relevant comments.” Your observations about the science are fine. If you’re not aware of your demeaning tone towards others, ya might want to think on it. That’s what I’m sayin.

Oh, look, it's cold in Boston right now. Climate change is fake, guys.
Whatever.

This isn't new at all, Summer had been hot in California since like forever, I don't think its really gotten hotter. I still remember how hot it was in much of the 1990s maybe with exception of 1995 and 1999 La Lina years. It was excuciating to stay anywhere without a/c. I remember visiting Seaworld, Mission and Pacific beaches, Zoo and Wild Animal Park back then and almost suffered heat exhaustion as temps were around triple digits every day that Labor Day weekend just like this past Labor Day weekend.
The great western states cascading blackout occurred during an extreme heat event back in 1996 I remembered. Another one occurred in 2000 but while that heat wave was hot that it reached 103 in San Francisco it didn't last as long.

Determining 'tone' over the internet is an exercise in futility. If I was banging out multi-thousand word walls of text in allcaps, then you might have a point. And watch your tone with me, kind sir! (see how stupid that is)

114f..maybe 115f at the Fresno airport. 115f would be hottest temp ever recorded. Old September record was 111f.
Thing is, nobody lives at the Fresno airport, so expect minimal deaths in metro Fresno. Also helps that its a dry heat.

A lot of people do live near the downtown Sacramento weather station, and the power grid is failing in the area.
This could get very ugly in NorCal.
No matter what, california will be forever changed after this heatwave, even if deaths are kept low.

**UPDATE** We just hit 116 degrees in Downtown Sacramento. That is the new All-Time highest temperature for Downtown Sacramento. Old record was 114 on July 17, 1925. #cawx
.

Welcome to the Anthropocene.

So did the one in 2011, in September, during a heatwave.
