Hi, all. Curious if there are places in California that meet the following criteria:

1.) Experiences a true autumn - cool temps in October and November (even better if it starts in September), low humidity, abundant fall foliage

2.) Historic, beautiful architecture

3.) Politically conservative or moderate, OR at least not in-your-face woke liberal

4.) No more than an hour from a major airport

Thanks for any suggestions!

Probably Gold Country towns east of Sacramento. Auburn, Placerville, etc... historic towns along Highway 49.

Chico's nice in some aspects but doesn't fit into the OP's criteria. It's too far from a major airport. Sac Int'l is 1 1/2 hours away. The areas mentioned in previous comments are about as close as you can get to see all four seasons and close to the airport.

None of the above.

To get cool September temps, you need to be at elevation like in South Lake Tahoe, Grass Valley, Nevada City.

Beautiful, historic architecture. I am stumped. I mean, gold country has older historic building, but not "beautiful" per se.

At least the political climate is likey to be moderate to conservative in gold country or rural CA, but nowhere within an hour of a real airport for travel.

You got me. That is a head scratcher. Maybe you could ask ChatGTP?

Chico is still in the high 80's in September. That is not "cool" temps. Highs don't get into the 70s until mid October.

Beautiful historic architecture? A very few old buildings, but any rural CA town has a few old buildings.

Politicaly moderate to conservative leaning? Not college town Chico.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think there are plenty of old west style buildings in many gold rush town, which are beautiful.

Chico is great; but not meeting OP.
