I , like many, have played the lottery many times, and something just occurred to me.
Having watched the draw on tv, I realized something I never caught on to before.
When the balls, promoted by a stream of air fall into a special tube that is the number chosen as a draw result.
How is it that these numbers always follow a sequence by allowing the next winning ball to be subsequently higher than the previous ball drawn?
Example would be, 5-19-27-32-46.

How come the balls don't fall into a random sequence if the stream of air is moving them.
Example, 5-26-8-45-31.
This is food for thought when playing the lottery again.
Something just doesn't seem right.

Default an observation about the lottery

I , like many Angelinos have played the lottery many times, and something just occurred to me.

I think the lottery commission even calls it a "random drawing".
Doesn't seem so random to me.

while on the subject of lotteries, has any brainy person ever figured out what it would cost to play every conceivable number combination?

Oh no. Now I'm going to be watching the lottery balls chosen just to see if you're right. Thank a lot.
j/k

I have no idea but it does seem weird. If you figure it out, please spill. I'd like know too

Your ticket prints your numbers in ascending order.

The Des Moines Register did an investigation into this issue a few years back.

From one of the articles:
Robert Molzon, a retired math professor at the University of Kentucky, concurred.

It’s impossible to directly test whether lottery computer-generated numbers are truly random without gaining access to the systems, Molzon said.

"My conclusion is that it is highly unlikely that the chosen numbers in either of these lotteries are truly random," Molzon said.

They may be reported in numerical order, but they weren't drawn in numerical order.

See this drawing, for example:

That is the first time I have ever seen them drawn randomly.
Any I have seen, the numbers are always in sequence from low to high.

I know that, but how come the numbers drawn at "random" are always ascending?
