I kind of believe it the way these forums read sometimes.

Seriously though, in another report they name the sun as being one of the main reasons for happiness....so then whats the deal with California?

Too many of us learned how to pronounce "sun" the same way the Governaror does.

Soaring cost of living, soaring unemployment, heavy traffic congestion, excess illegal aliens, etc. Things I'm not happy with too.

This link explains the variables used in determining the list.

Sample size? Actual questions used? Any leading questions? Where are the actual results? Where was the composite data for this study? Any conflating or correlated variables? How were they singled out?

I tried looking on their site for the methodology for these results, but I couldn't find it.

Reason why I bring all this up is that 'happiness' isn't something that could be scientifically defined. If it could be, then why haven't there been enough drugs/products released to trigger the happiness chemical that we all have? In other words, it's so subjective that it almost reads like an opinion piece.

I for one am happy. But then I live and work near the ocean. Not all of the 38 million people living here have the same outlook as I do. Maybe those of us that are so fortunate are happy and the remaider of the state is not. lol

Without good weather and nice scenery we'd be 50th.

FL #3 vs CA #46

I just got back from 2 weeks in Florida, all I have to say is not only do people seem happier (a lot less complaining about the economy, illegals, jobs, schools) than California. The general FL populace seem to be getting more polite than Californians too.

Maybe people are just happy to be somewhere where there is sun, and affordability.

I saw new houses between Orlando and Cape Canaveral (NASA) Cocoa beach starting at 130k...
