This past summer, we did a week long camping trip at Edisto Beach State Park. I had an old dome tent with a hallway with a second door. I took a 5000 btu window unit and set it on a milk crate inside the small doorway and zipped the zipper as far around the unit. Then took some mesh and clothspins and sealed up the rest. It worked really well. With temps around 85 to 90 at night, we were sleeping under a heavy blanket. However, it was a relatively small (4 person) tent and it got fairly tight after a few days. I'm looking for a larger tent for next summer. But I was wondering if anybody has seen any large tents with an A/C port already built in? I found one on a walmart website. The tent was HUGE! But it had a small opening near the floor that was designed to fit a small window unit. It had a drawstring to keep it closed tight if you didn't use it. The problem was the reviews were very poor. The tent is very cheap and the biggest complaint was the zippers didn't hold up well.
Anybody ever see any tents with this type of accessory built in? I've seen some "kits" that you can do it yourself. But it would be really nice to buy one already installed.
being it gets over 100 degrees around here that's not a bad idea When i was young we camped locally at a lake, it would get 100 during the day and in the 80's at night and I loved it, now that I'm old I wonder why I liked it.

You might find an easier time using a "portable air conditioner" instead of a window unit.
Because you can keep the unit inside the tent instead of having to cut holes in the fabric , use milk crates etc. They use 3 hoses. One for air intake, one for air exhaust and one to drain water. You can just stick them out the tent and close a zipper on them, case closed.
I remember seeing a real small one at Home Cheapot for about $2xx

Found one !!!!!!! There are 3 views of the tent. Look at the second picture. It shows the A/C port. This is going to make July 4th camping in 100+ heat tolerable.
That tent will become a greenhouse air conditioner, or not because it's "100 percent polyester".
If you want to be comfortable, find a tent with a breathable fabric.
Here's a hint.... you won't find any at wal*mart.
"Breathable Fabric" ?????? Really ????? A tent, by nature, is very "breathable." I already tried this setup earlier this summer as I mentioned in my original post. My older tent was a WalMart tent as well. It worked fine. It was just a hassle because I had to "rig" up the AC unit in a doorway with mesh screen and the tent was only a 4 person tent. I wanted something bigger with a port built in for an AC unit.
I find this very interesting...at 1st I kinda laughed but after camping in Alabama the last part of June, I think it's a neat idea.
Not a bad price on that tent either.
