Hi,

I hope you all are having a pleasant day! I had a couple of questions regarding the immigration procedure that I hope you could help me with.

My husband and I are living in Canada now and planning to apply as Skilled Workers with prearranged employment (my husband has prearranged employment and I m a freelancer). We currently hold work permits status. Both of us got our 4 year Hons B.Sc. degrees in Canada, have lived in the US after that, and now back to Canada to settle.

We both have enough points to apply for the PR without taking any points for the English Proficiency. I would like to know if it is mandatory to take the test if we are ready to forgo those points.

Since we are residing in Canada now, which form should we use for the application? The IMM5002 or the IMM0008?

Some of our police records documents need to be translated from a middle eastern language to English. I would like to know if we should have it translated in the country of origin or in Canada.

Thank you!

Sorry I have no direct answers.
The Canada Immigration site should have your answers. If anything is unclear call them. The web site and phone system are designed to individuals can work through the process without the need of lawyers. Best to get the answer from the authorities as a wrong answer/opinion in a forum could have some significant consequences.

I doubt you will need to take any English proficiency tests if you hold a university degree from an english-speaking institution.

I second marc3565's suggestion. Contact CIC, if you need help.

A notary public's service is not expensive. And your documents must be translated by a certified translator (e.g. hold a degree in the study of translation, linguistics, interpretation or language from a Canadian University).
