All things considered ..

Canada would punch much above its weight.

... many ways to look at it ....
tiny population of 33 million in the world's second largest country
great natural diversity
great people diversity
great economic diversity ...

What about international clout, sports, entertainment, etc.?

When was the last time Canada had a "world champion" boxer? (Yeah, I don't like boxing, either. Too brutal!)

Lennox Lewis fought for Canada as an amateur and won a gold medal, though I think he identifies himself as British.

I created this post after reading yours ....

The real truth about Canada. The ultimate battle: Canada versus the World!

Just general worldwide interest in Canada is much above average.

Entertainment? e.g. Hollywood of the North. Great actors, directors, musicians etc.
Sports? Lags other countries. Maybe due to weather. But great in winter sports.
International clout? Less publicized. Member of G8. One of the world's strongest economies. Strong international partnerships.

Lucian Bute was world champ super middle weight fairly recently. Jean Pascal was the same for light heavy weights.

Both are from Montreal.

Meh. Just as much fodder comes from the "Hollywood of the North" as from the real Hollywood. I wonder if it would be more accurate to say that Canada is Hollywood's China?
