I am looking to share a TV show with my American GF. Looking for something cute, fun, UNIQUE, and reflective of Canadian culture. She is already familiar with Anne of Green Gables, as most Americans are.
These come to mind so far :
Beachcombers?
Corner Gas ?

Well, "Adventures in Rainbow Country" was the Canada that the CBC liked to portray back in the 1970s. It had the plucky white English-speaking kid, his wise Native buddy, the French-speaker (who spoke English with a Jean Chretien accent), the friendly Mountie, and the smart WASP mother (played by Lois Maxwell, James Bond's Moneypenny). The setting was northern Ontario.
Of course, it was full of stereotypes. Most Canadians had nothing in common with the characters, and few had been to northern Ontario. But the CBC seemed to feel that this was somehow quintessentially Canadian, and aired it for a few years.
In terms of the OP, my vote would be "Corner Gas." Even though it's a comedy, it's pretty accurate as to the characters. I've encountered all of them in my travels across the country.
