This compelled me to google where the highest speed limits are in Canada.

Speed limits in Canada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BC has highways where one can drive 120 kph. So Ontario and Quebec don't have any highways anywhere that the speed limit exceeds 100 kph? Lame.

Not legally or officially. But unofficially, yes.

Is this really possible?
Yes. The officer isn't staring at their radar. They set it to alert them the number the threshhold they set is detected. They are trained to be observant. It isn't hard to tell the difference in the plates from a standing position. I can do it with cars going in the other direction on the highway which doubles the relative speed.

This needs to be elaborated on because it's something new that's occurred only a month ago in BC. Last month there were 2 short sections of remote straight highways where the speed limit was increased from 110 to 120. That's it. Also last month there were a few other highways where there were speed limit increases from 80 to 90, and from 100 to 110. Below link has a list of all the highways where there were or will be increases in speed limits and the reasons for the increases.

It should also be noted that there are new signage and new traffic regulations being put into place and stiffer traffic monitoring and traffic fines.

AND it should be noted that the same weekend that the new speed increases went into effect there was also a big increase in speed related traffic accidents and fatalities on those same highways.
