Thanks for stats. I think you are overestimating Calgary's population by at least 20k and Sarnia is closer to 90,000.
Ya np! for Calgary I might be who know's but we'll see. (Might have to readjust it Statistics Canada has not Released a CMA Estimate in a long long time), as for Sarnia it's CMA Boundaries have been adjusted to include more Area's.
It seems like Manitoba is heavily dominated by Winnipeg CMA...
Number of CMA in each province with population over 150,000 people as per OP’s stats:-
Ontario - 12
Quebec - 6
British Columbia - 4
Alberta - 2
Saskatchewan - 2
Manitoba - 1
Nova Scotia - 1
New Brunswick - 1
Newfoundland and Labrador - 1
Prince Edward Island - 0
I'm sure North42 & Acajack will eventually see this @ somepoint, for those
of u that knew me on Skyscraperpage I'm sure u can explain what I do to many
of the newer folks on here!
Wow! That was quick, thanks Tosin007! I really missed your stats thread after your ban, as did a lot of other forumers at SSP!
I’m sure some people will come on here and complain about whatever they feel isn’t exactly right with some numbers, but they have to realize it’s an estimate, not an official count. Many will consider it folly, but there are many of us who really appreciate your hard work and contribution, and enjoy the conversation that comes from it, thanks again!
Just be warned that it is not nearly as civil here as it is at SSP, so be prepared for that, it can get pretty bad!
I’m really hoping that with Windsor’s much improved economy, and increases growth rates, and a booming Detroit across the river, that we will stay ahead of Saskatoon population wise, and remain the 16th largest metro in the country. Windsor really stagnated for the better part of the last ten years, but is really improving now, so I expect a very strong growth rate in the 2021 census. Last census we grew by 3%, so I’m expecting by the next census, we’ll be closer to 6% growth. Stats Canada is showing Windsor’s labour force growing at 1.3% a year.
Saskatoon’s economy has slowed a bit lately after growing very fast over the past decade or so, but still looks healthy, so who knows, Windsor and Saskatoon may end up at around the same size for quite a while to come!
