Steve has recently started growing a whisker on the side of his head. It's not bunched together with the rest of the whiskers, it growing from his cheek, about 2 inches south of his ear. It's unsightly. He's a tuxedo cat and he has this giant white poker coming out of his beautiful black fur.

Do you think it's okay to cut it or pluck it out of there? I know that generally whiskers are off limits, but this one is just weird.

Thanks!

My tuxedo cats also have random white whiskers in the same place. And sometimes they're black. I'd just leave it alone.

It's just a whisker. I don't understand why they are weird or unsightly. My black cat has white whiskers in random spots all over his face. Leave it alone.

Think of it as a curb feeler. I wouldn't worry about it.

Whiskers are there for a reason. They help judge leaps, balance and the small spaces a cat can fit through.
Whiskers serve an extremely important role in the life of a cat. Under no circumstances should they be trimmed or removed

Whiskers, also referred to as tactile hairs or vibrissae, are most noticeable on the cat's upper lip and eyebrow region. The roots of the whiskers extend deep into follicles and contain massive nerve endings allowing them to be sensitive enough to detect wind speed and the slightest differences in air pressure. The whiskers exist in horizontal rows and extend out matching the width of the cat's body.

Maybe your cat thinks it is weird that you have whiskers growing from your chin.
