RIP, they made headlines a few years back.

Ruth the cat dies; her protector, Idgie the Dachshund, mourns - Orlando Sentinel

Quote:
On Tuesday afternoon, Ruth died.

Even Friday, Borum could barely bring herself to talk about the loss. Idgie, of course, was mourning, curling up joylessly on the spot the two had shared, looking lost.

But Borum hoped the spirit of their bond would endure.

"Thank you world, for embracing this amazing dynamic duo that not only beat the odds, but conquered, by being a beacon of light for other animals in desperate need through Project Paws," Borum posted on the group's Facebook page. "Their friendship has so much to teach us as humans about love, selflessness, loyalty and the ability to look beyond our differences."

Give me five minutes with the "person" that abandoned them and I'll plead guilty to save the taxpayers some money.

If I were on the jury, you wouldn't have to.

I feel so sorry for little Idgie. Maybe they can find another friend for him to bond with.

Run free at the Bridge, sweet Ruth.

This story is beyond heartbreaking & heartwarming too. Ruthie seemed so happy to have the little life given her despite obstacles. Heck, everyone here can learn to handle adversity w/ such grace & vigor. So many folks just complain when they've got it made.

As far as Idgie, what more can I say? Are humans anywhere near the kindness, compassion, love & lack of malice toward each other as these 2 species were? I think the answer is not v good for people vs what these animals can teach us.

Ha, lower form of life are animals? Take a good look a humanity these days & do the math. Sorry sounding ticked off but I surely am-- & darn proud of it. Someone has GOT to stick up for these poor forlorn creatures. Anyone on board?
