Yesterday, Gracie went outside for her usual 15 min of exercise (that's it, then screen porch rest of day). I go outside too to keep an eye out, then to bring her back inside. Yes I know some will say no cats outside but since I am with them there's never been any problems of any kind. We live on several acres away from roads, cars, dogs, etc.

She came upon a huge stag with antlers...scared this big guy so all he could do was paw the ground and do the deer snort. She was unaffected and seemed to enjoy having this big beast frozen in place right in front of her.

After a clap of hands the deer ran off and she rolled around in the grass, appearing happy with herself.

Today....she did the exact same thing! He must stay close to the house but in the woods....she went over and I heard the poor stag snorting, she had found him again. I think she searched him out. Brought her back in so the guy can have a break.

She's very inquisitive....not shy.

And the stag acted like he had never seen a cat...

interesting interaction....

I don't want to read any sequel to the above GBH …. that big boy could easily break into your screened porch to get her and you inside there, in a heartbeat! It would happen so quickly that both of you would be helpless.

He'd have to walk up about 8 steps to get to the porch... Which he couldn't do, way too large to negotiate steps. This occurred down the hill by the woods...NOT near my house.

Thanks, though.

I did have an incident in the Maine woods once....walking on a trail, a huge stag with massive antlers came up out of the brush unexpectedly on the trail right in front of me....we were both terrified....he ran off breathing so hard....worried he might die of fright. I could have touched his nose, so close he was...

Chances are he probably hadn't, and was a bit perplexed by such a brash little creature getting all up in his space. Sometimes house cats tend to forget that not all animals are as easy to charm as humans are. Hope any future meetings are just as peaceful.

And a picture or 2 would really be nice.

That would be a good pic....the only camera I have right now is on my tablet...

Now that I think about it, another cat years ago did the same with 4 deer in my yard. He crouched down like he was going to bravely run at 4 deer....the second he moved, all 4 jumped vertically at the same time, then took off.

Priceless...

Priceless indeed! Boosted his ego a bit too, I imagine.
