My dad died back in May, and the cat he left behind (it was more his cat than mine, even though we were both with it for almost 20 years) I think is in a state of confusion, and in fact does miss him.
I'm guessing it's not the same sort of display of emotion as a dog, but I think it's real. I'm in a tough situation because that cat only liked him, and he's getting to the point now where he's on the verge of Kitty Heaven, I think, and I wish my dad was here for him.
