He turned 11 last month; he was with us about 8 1/2 years. Never gave us a hint of a problem; was as pleasant a fellow as you could want. Got him from a vet; his previous owner decided that having a cat was too expensive.
Too bad they didn't think about that in the first place. Would have saved him the trauma of re-homing. But their loss, your gain.
Again my condolences for the loss of your sweet boy.
My big ginger guy, Hobbes, would hop up on the bed around 5 AM or so. But he would just lay alongside me and crank up the purr machine. Even if I slept until 9, he would still be there sleeping. But once I got moving, it was time for breakfast!
Unfortunately, we had to put Hobbes to sleep today. I'm sure going to miss my buddy.

Yeah, our black cat that we have spent a year in a shelter after her people were moving and decided that she couldn't go with them. Animals can sometimes have tough spots in their lives. But then some get lucky and land in the right place. Too bad it doesn't happen to more of them.

So sorry to hear this. It's wonderful he and you loved each other so much.
Their natural schedule (in the wild) is to sleep during the daytime - when it's brightest and hottest - then wake around dusk for a hunt, play, nap, and wake again before sunrise for another hunt/meal. So we really can't be mad when they refuse to adjust to OUR human clocks!
My cats are lucky, though, since I basically keep their schedule... those 4am play/singing sessions rarely bother me, since I'm usually still awake anyway.
