Kittens abandoned in Alberta in winter (rescue, kitty, humane, best)

Good Lord, why do people do this? I'm glad to hear that these kittens were rescued, but seriously, are there really people so cruel that they would do this? Fercrissakes, why? Just give the kittens up to the Humane Society, don't dump them in a child's backpack by the side of the road.

I had a rescue. She was left in a cardboard box by the side of a rural road, with her kittens. On a night when it was roughly -30C (-20F) or so. She kept her kittens warm, but it cost her an ear to frostbite. She and kittens were found by a Good Samaritan, and taken to Calgary Humane, where we adopted her. Her kittens were adopted out, so she was all that was left of the little family, and we got her.

She was a wonderful cat, and lived with me for the next 18 years. But if not for that Good Samaritan, she would have died trying to keep her kittens warm.

Thanks for posting this, Chevy. I ask myself this every day, how can someone do something like this?

Thank you for giving a long and loved life to momma kitty. The momma kitties I've had over the years were just the best mothers, just the best. One of our momma kitties had her kittens on my bed when I was a kid, I consider that a great compliment. We love our kitties.
