Haha, you just reminded me, this wasn't our cat's name but it was a (very far-fetched) play on it, but one time he had gotten up from his nap and paused before joining us in the living room, and my SO greeted him with a voice full of gusto, "Sir Roderick of Wellingham!" (with an "announcement" horn sound, *Do-dee-DOO!*). Once that had commenced, our cat presented himself into the room, sufficiently pleased at being duly introduced.

Yes, cats certainly have a Regal/Royal presence and attitude. There are companies that will create a Royal portrait of your pet to be hung in a prominent place of your home (see link below)....

I knew someone whose cat wanted to be alone, so he named her Garbo.

One of my cats I named "Tippi" since it is a family pet name. My mother had a "Tippy" when she was growing up, and my great-great aunt had a dog with the same name. I think the name suits my cat especially since she likes to "tip" things over.

as a kid we had a calico called Lucky - because she was always having kittens. LOL Ceasar and Geronimo that died in an apartment fire. Janice, Molly, Moe, Sir Pumpkin - Graybeard - now Leo and Maxine. It was Max - until I found out she was a girl LOL. Bandit had black patches over his eyes. I got him in Japan when I was Active Duty -- we moved to TX and the maid left the window open and he jumped out and I never saw him again.

Our rescue came with the name "Charlie" and while i don't like giving human names to pets, it's what he answers to so i don't want to confuse him. Named our last rescue "Fraidy because she lived under the sofa for 3 months. I'd rather name pets after their traits but Underfoot is taken. (He's a tabby)

My "underfoot" is gray and fluffy, so he became Dust Bunny.

Absolutely not great, but Communipaw. My son and I live in New Jersey. When I watch his cat she taps things like the treat bag and nip tub when she wants some. She taps the back of my hand when she wants to be pet.
