That's how one of my new kittens was diagnosed. She wasn't mowing but I thought she was definitely overgrooming. Seems like there's a lot of it these days. Too much indoor time?

She didn't seem unwell but was definitely a high energy cat which had trouble relaxing. Barn cat, maybe not getting enough stimulation?

I think vets, like doctors, have a tendency to overprescribe and also when I saw the price of the food she was recommending I decided to give it a try at home first.

I found a good recipe for homemade catfood with ground turkey which included all the vitamins and minerals which cat need taurine, bonemeal, etc. We did that for a couple of months with good results and then gradually went back to the adult cat food and she has made the adjustment well.

Be cautious feeding any sort of skin to a pet. It's a choking hazard.

He won't eat anything except dry food. Not tuna, not salmon, not chicken. Not on a plane, not in a train....

I've tried all the recommendations that I got a few years back from catsmom which worked with my other cat but not with Grayson. I'm going to go to Pet Supermarket and pick up a bag of Instinct limited ingredients food with turkey or lamb. They also make a wet food and I'll pick up a can or two while I'm there.

Tiny bits, maybe 1/4 x 1/4 of an inch, kitchen shears ftw!

Maybe grain free dry would help?

Grayson is doing better after the cortisone shot and I haven't seen him doing much licking. I read up on cat allergies and it appears that the protein, not the grain is the number one allergen for most cats so I'm going to start with buying him the food with turkey or lamb rather than the chicken he has been getting. Unfortunately I just bought a bag of his usual dog food a few days ago which isn't necessarily a bad thing as I can make the transition slowly.
