No, Bo's thyroid was fine after treatment and he didn't need to be on any meds for that. His kidneys did show some decreased performance after the radioiodine, but it wasn't enough to put him on any other meds or do fluids or anything.

He was fine for 3 years (til age 17) and then he developed bladder cancer, and I eventually lost him to that.

Sorry also to hear about Bo. When my girl went in for her tests, the vet also did renal studies and took a urine sample. All is well with her kidneys. Good news, we are going to repeat the T4 in a month and see if it was a fluke or is really elevated. She has no symptoms. If it is still high, will have her take the pills. No radioiodine at this point thankfully.

Yeah, a retest is always good idea. There is also a dermal gel that many people use successfully in the ear. I ruled that out for Bo because of all the ear licking my female cats did to him!
