Brief history: We adopted a black and white from an animal shelter, Edward. Had him 20 years. Then found a stray, Annie, and had her 14 years. She died a few months ago from a tumor. I adopted another cat, a big, gentle black and white, but he was a young adult, and though we had him fixed, he kept getting out and finally didn't come back, and we haven't been able to find him. [So for 35 years I've been a cat person; just turned 59 myself.]
I'm a music teacher and people keep bringing me kittens; I stopped at two, so now we have two, six week old kittens, different moms. They're not fighting too much (a little bit) and have lost their shyness, and are on top of me all the time (which is lovely, of course). They're eating and drinking well and using the litter box.
Any tips for raising them? I've really never raised kittens. Two little girls.
Feed them quality food, always provide fresh water and a clean box, and after that, play with them.
Since they are really young to be away from their mothers, some of their nursing habits may not go away when they should (suckling and/or kneading on soft things) but overall if you just give them a good home and play with them and keep them active while growing, they'll be just fine.
Get them fixed as soon as your vet advises. I love it when my cats knead on my stomach, lap, or chest. It's a kitten behavior to bring down the mother's milk. They are just loving on you when they do that.
besides that, terrific that you have 2. They'll be great company for each other. Sounds like everyone else has given the good advice. And remember, even if raised the same, they may turn out totally differnent. We got 2 kittens at the same time couple years ago. Sasha wsa the most laid back friendly loving sweetheart of a kitty, couldnt stand to be w/o his BFF (my youngest girl) his sister Ellie, although one of the most stunningly beautiful cats ive ever seen, was very standoffish, pretty much just tolerated the kiddos, just 2 totally different personalities. And again, raised the same. We found as wee kittens, they really liked to have an enclosed boxish bed with a nice thick towel tucked in. Ellie would go there to hide often when she needed "alone time" also. Of course, had to be double diligent w/the cat box/food/water.
But again, most important of all....
