WILKES-BARRE, Pa., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- A lawyer for a Pennsylvania woman accused of animal cruelty says there are no laws stating "you can't pierce or dock a cat's tail."

Prosecutors said Holly Crawford of Ross Township is facing six animal cruelty counts for piercing the ears of three black kittens with a 14-gauge needle and bobbing two cats' tails to sell the animals on eBay as "gothic kittens," the Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) Citizens' Voice reported Tuesday.

Default She should be pierced!

If her vet is not doing it under anesthesia, it's cruelty! How can she not be sited for cruelty?

Making kittens cute to sell on Ebay. That just disturbs me. This is a very sad case where the animals are the ones hurt. Stuff like this makes me sick.

Aye yi yi, let's not go THERE! Isis willing, they're being offered alive.
Failing eBay, I'm sure craigslist wouldn't think twice about posting such a listing.
A cat I once knew had to have his tail bobbed due to an infection, and he adapted just fine. That's not to say I agree with its being done for nothing other than "cosmetic" reasons; then again, Dobermans' tails (as well as ears) are routinely disfigured for non-medical purposes and no cruelty charges are brought against their guardians either.
Whether anybody likes it or not, pets are property in the eyes of the law.

"[G]othic kittens"! That's really sick. It's one thing to do oneself up in a 'goth' style, but to do it to kittens is unconscionable. Stupid and cruel.
