Ggrr what a nightmare im having right now with Scampi!!!

We frontline scampi regulary... But we keep finding ticks on him, though majority of the ticks we have found on him are very small (smaller than a pin head). I need some help!!

Does anybody know how to keep ticks off cats (apart from Frontline)..
My cat is a very outdoorsy kind of boy n loves hunting, so keeping him in would be cruel... But are there any kind of treatments eg pills/sprays ects that could kill ticks or put them off staying on a host!?

How big do ticks also get before they drop off and breed?! Im worried that i might have tick eggs in the house... Im hoovering up daily, i guess that helps...

Does anybody else have any tips on how to keep these little bloody suckers away?!

I'd talk to the vet. I do think they make a flea treatment that also cover ticks too.

I have never heard of ticks breeding in a house. they have more specific habitat requirements than fleas. If you are putting Frontline on your kitty be assured it is killing most of the ticks that get on her. I had to still remove an occasional tick from the eyelid or ear of my long-haired kitty. Usually they would drop off and die somewhere in the house. You may want to treat your yard if this is an outdoor cat.

We had a few ticks last year, and just today I foubnd one on one of our outdorrs males. I Frontlined him after I removed that little monster. Gosh they are hideous, huh?

anyhow, last year my husband also sprayed the low bushes, flowers and shrubs that our cats love to get near or under. He used Diazinon I think, at the lowest dose rate, on a dry evening just before sundown. The dew keeps the stuff moist overnight, and so they say it stays more active during the night. We also applied some diazinon granules to the lawn where the fleas can be found.

So we'll probably do that again this year. Ticks are truly disgusting. The other problem may be that both our outdoor males often arrive at the door with rodents. We live on a farm, and we have acres of wild grass and hay, so it's easy pickings for wild rodents. Without these two cats we'd probably be up to "here" with mice and voles, but it does give them parasitic worms, so we treat the cats with a prescription wormer. Droncet I think. it works well and only takes one capsule dose every month.

Good luck with those horrid ticks! Dang them!

they are horrible little monsters!! yuk yuk yuk!!

I cant stand them!!
Well ive hoovered the house so its spotless! Frontlined scampi (and so far no ticks....) though it took along time before they all came off (hopefully stay off).

Where we live is quite rural, so scampi (like your cats) eats a lot of mice and rats, we use a wormer called Drontal... But hes an absolute lil devil to get tablets down him! Mainly because he refuses to eat any meat (strange eh? Cos he loves mice n rats!!) even the meat we cook fresh like chicken, beef ect ect.. wont touch it!!!

But we managed to get like just over 1/2 a Drontal tablet down him!!
