His previous owners who relinquished him to the county shelter have the option to change their mind and take him back within 30 days of his adoption. We've made it this far, and I doubt they'd take him back, but it's still nagging at me.

Thank you, thank you! We don't have to worry about Mads because she was a stray.

If someone comes for Guiness, just flip off the lights, they will never find her with that beautiful black fur!

I was going to ask if you lived in California. That explains it. Wow................ In the rest of the country once you surrender, that's it. Done. My shelter euth's owner surrenders at intake and doesn't even give them a chance for a rescue to pull them or someone else to adopt them, let alone an owner to change their mind.

I'm so glad California has it together with spay / neuter and adopt don't buy, but adopting a pet and giving the owner 30 days to change their mind is BS.

I agree, I would NOT return an animal to someone who dumped them off at a "shelter". They are not a pair of shoes, they are living beings!!! Grrrr.

Ahh, good idea!

Thanks everybody. I'm not sure what I'd do if they wanted him back, but it wouldn't be pretty. S/O said we would get him so hyper and rambunctious they wouldn't want him back. lol I think I mentioned it before, but he was relinquished because he was too high strung for his previous owners. Well duh, he's still a kitten!

4 more days...

(I'm not counting or anything )

In that case, I think to be on the safe side, he should have coffee and brownies for breakfast with mommy and daddy every day! LOL And if someone pulls in the drive, spray some shaving cream around his mouth. Hey - do you have any of those vampire teeth from Halloween??
