Look, some women do look attractive in long hair, no matter what their age, but these days women who probably would not look good that way in their younger years are now wearing long locks. The hair seems to draw attention to jowls and double chins.
Short skirts just do not look graceful on most older women.
Some women get stuck in the style they wore in their younger years. Not every style is flattering to every face and every age and I think there is something desperate appearing in a woman who is not happy with herself the way she is but is trying to escape into some sort of fantasy world, as though no one else can notice that.
These are some women for whom I have respect and it just looks weird to me. I am embarrassed for them.
so I am trying to capture my youth when I wear rayban wayfarers, swatch watches, topsiders with no socks and pop the collar on my pink colored la coste polo shirts?
If the lady's got the body, the grace, the looks , she should rock it...she she doesn't need permissions from the OP.
I am not going to mention names, but I am thinking of women in serious professions - women who are not in the business of looking 'pretty', but respected for their brains. These women have imperfect bodies and not the looks for long hair.
About men, my hubby is over 60 and wears shorts sometimes. Though he has nice legs, I think that's not appropriate, not that my opinion matters. He was in in tropical climates for a great part of his life where shorts were proper attire for men years back when there was little or no air-conditioning.

Your bias has been influenced by cultural conditioning, a "culture" which is long gone. Also, where would you suggest that women buy long dresses? As for the hair, thank god women no longer feel compelled to cut their hair short after a "certain age." Such a negative patriarchal perspective. I see business women, judges, lawyers, scientists, etc., (accomplished professionals) with long hair every day.
I kind of get what you are saying. I have longish hair but it is time to bring it up a bit. I've been told I look more youthful with long hair, but past a certain length, I feel it looks a bit pathetic.
I also do not think it looks good for a woman past a certain age to wear short shirts, even when they have good legs and are thin...I mean minis, not just above the knee. It looks odd to me.

I see a lot of old guys in their 40s (man that's old!) wearing jeans and Nikes, man that just looks stupid
It's for comfort.
