How time flies. And, yes, I remember where I was when I heard the news lol.

He had a great voice, and I liked a lot of his songs. Some favorites:

American Trilogy (Who else could sing Dixie to applause?)
Suspicious Minds
Kentucky Rain
Blue Christmas

How about you?

Jailhouse Rock, All shook up and Blue Suede shoes are my go to classic Elvis. Used to play on the jukebox in the bar when I was a regular a lot.

Honestly.. While I think his music was great.. The Elvis stories are what really sell him as a legend in my book.

"Look, E.. It's Robert Goulet".. BOOM as Elvis shoots the TV

Shooting flash bulbs in the pool

Hamburger James.

Michael Jackson is in the same vein.. The stories about him are a different type of odd, tho.. And not nearly as funny.

No other celebrity after Thier death has had more conspiracy theories stating them as still living then Elvis. The unexplained mysteries section even has a new thread on this.

Must have been awesome to see Elvis and the Rock n Rollers of that era live. Then heading to the drive in after some food at the ice cream parlor.

Well.. JFK.. Whether you want to consider him 'celebrity' or not.. Argument could go either way on that.

Amelia Earhart..

But, yes.. Point taken that Elvis is probably at least top 5.

This comic strip made me laugh out loud when I first saw it some 30 years ago when it originally ran..

not the real one of course... but still is an important place in Scotland recent history with the main man visiting even for a short time. http://www.moodiereport.com/images/p...is_rodwell.jpg

My own top 10 on Presley:

Marie's The Name (His Latest Flame)
Don't Be Cruel
Suspicious Minds
Memories
Kentucky Rain
If I Can Dream
Return To Sender
Surrender
In The Ghetto
Hound Dog

That's for this week anyway, it'll change next week.

Quote from John Lennon--"Without Elvis there would have been no Beatles."
