Sad. Going to try and watch the Blues Brothers movies. I liked when Aretha came on and did her song, "Think". I also like her singing "Respect".

112 charted singles on Billboard Magazines charts
17 singles that were top ten.
20 singles that went to #1 on the R&B charts.
18 Grammy awards.
75 million records sold worldwide.
The first woman to be nominated in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

They called her "The Queen Of Soul." She excelled on other labels besides her noted work on Atlantic Records.
She had a powerhouse vocal delivery like no other.

She is one of the great singers and performers in this era--for that matter, any era!

And she will be greatly missed. RIP, Aretha.

God rest her soul. Condolences. Her roots were in the church. She sang as though trying to rouse listeners from a Sunday morning church service.

She was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Dubya in 2005. She had numerous honorary degrees from prestigious universities, and other accolades.

You can see how she affected the music world by the condolences pouring in. Sir Paul McCartney, Bernie Sanders, Willie Nelson, Ivanka Trump, Wolf Blitzer, Canada, the President himself, Bette Middler, Carole King, Steve Harvey...Elizabeth Warren, numerous news outlets (foreign and domestic). There are several Twitter threads, so I am sure that there are many more out there.....

PS Elvis died on this day, 40 odd years ago. The King, and the Queen of Soul.....RIP

Please,no political responses to this response (NOPOLZONE).

Don't look now, but you already did that.

As for AF, my favorite of hers was Natural Woman.
