This is very sad news. If I'm not mistaken he has a younger wife and children. Jeopardy will not be the same without him. I wish him and his family peace. And I hope he can be kept comfortable.
Have an older friend who survived the pan pancreatic cancer for 4 years now and just got another clean bill of health. Another friend survived 7 years now.
Stage 4 is tough! The treatment alone may kill you at 80...
Sorry to hear that...
Is that a typo or was 'pan' the type of pancreatic cancer? I know there's two types.. The most common one, which I believe Trebek has, is basically the Michael Landon cancer (And it's sad that so many people nowadays don't get the reference or know who Michael Landon was) and.. That's just a matter of time.
There's the other type, which Steve Jobs had, and they have a procedure that basically reroutes the plumbing to remove the cancer.. That has a decent long term survivability.. At least in comparison. I think it's called a Whipple procedure, believe it or not..

My understanding is that this particular cancer, unless it spreads to an area that causes pain.. Isn't that bad so far as being uncomfortable. It's one of the things that makes it so deadly.. By the time you show the first symptom.. It's been growing and spreading for years.

Jeopardy's been my favorite and most consistently watched TV show for many years. I hope Trebek can overcome this illness, i've spent a lot of time with him, 1/2 hour at a time.
My question is, if your Alex, do you stay on and host the show for the next how every many months you have left, or do you call it quits and spend the time with your family at home or traveling?
