Unfortunately, I think we're going to see a lot of names added to this list, but I thought it might be worth having a thread with a full list. The ones I know of so far:

Terrence McNally (Tony award winning playwright, librettist, screenwriter)
Joe Diffie (country musician)
Alan Merrill (songwriter)
Manu Dibango (jazz musician)
Mark Blum (actor)

Sadly I think many will pass without the recognition they deserve. Add to the list as needed.

Here's a list someone had put together on IMDB that I ran into a few days ago. Also with those that have survived or are surviving thus far.

Random sort of related question - I know the thread didn't grow like you meant - but:

8000 people die every day, in "normal" times. Celebrities? Eh...once a month or three? Seems right...

But now we have 4000 people dead...and multiple celebrities...why do you think that is? Exposure maybe? Lifestyle?

I didn't mean for it to grow right away. But it will likely grow over time.

Once a month or three? Uh ... celebrities die more frequently than that. They just may not be people who end up on your radar.

Isn't Greta Thunberg that young and crazy Scandinavian girl that is doing angry speeches about global warming?
When the heck did she become a celebrity, if whining loud and angry all the time was grounds to be famous, I'd be one long ago!

Well, you know who she is. And I'm assuming you haven't actually met her. So it seems the only way that would be possible is if she were famous.
