Cloris Leachman
Cloris Leachman, the Emmy and Oscar-winning actress whose career crossed more than seven decades, has died. She was 94.
The famed actress' rep confirmed to ET that Leachman died in her sleep of natural causes at her Encinitas, California, home on Wednesday. Her daughter, Dinah Englund, was by her side.
Good to see our local news outlets giving her lots of attention, she started acting at the Des Moines Playhouse, and attended high school here. She was actually quite a looker in her younger years, and was in the Miss America pageant. I saw her in an episode of The Untouchables, she still had sizzle back in the early 60's. Yes, she was funny in Young Frankenstein, her Phillis character as written was somewhat annoying and condescending, the type you love to hate, she played it well enough to get her own show but unfortunately did not have the same success as most the other MTM characters after the show was canceled. Guess I'll have to check out Raising Hope sometime to see her Maw Maw character.
Why was it necessary to reference her religion in the title thread? This is an entertainment forum, not a religion forum.
huh? Were there two topics that were merged?
In general, they tend to like to have these topics in the Celebrities forum, so this is where I started one. Was there another somewhere else? I certainly didn't mention anything about religion.
Oh.. Also.. She did NOT die of COVID.. natural causes.. My original post, there could perhaps be some bad interpretation that I was saying that. I was just saying that she kept working at least up until the start of the pandemic.
Mostly voice work, but working.
I had kinda forgotten about her role in Malcolm in the Middle as well. Grandma Ida. And, lest we forget her taking over for Charlotte Rae on The Facts of Life in its last couple of years.
