Porn purveyor Larry Flynt, who built Hustler magazine into an adult entertainment empire while championing First Amendment rights, died Wednesday, the AP reports. He was 78. Flynt had been in frail health and died of heart failure at his Hollywood Hills home, said his nephew, Jimmy Flynt Jr. From his beginnings as an Ohio strip club owner to his reign as founder of one of the most explicit adult-oriented magazines, Flynt constantly challenged the establishment and became a target for the religious right and feminist groups.

I don't think he got anywhere near as much action as Heffner did.

Depends on the action.. Court action.. He got more.

Flynt was a very important person in the history of free speech in our country. Not necessarily the greatest of people.. but important nonetheless.

His autobiography is good.

I have two original issues of the first magazine run, when they were all black and white, promoting club dancers. Only two I've ever seen in person.

Agreed, 100%

Great movie starring Woody Harrelson, too.
