A standout On the NYC Punk Scene, Robert Gordon, an amazingly talented singer and colleague on the Iconic Link Wray, has passed. I knew him, and he was the former fiance of a good friend of mine, who is heartbroken, although she is happily married.

His voice was incredibly smooth and effortless, evocative of Elvis Presley. His guitar is equally unforgettable.

This video that was aired on MTV in the 1980s, really highlights his voice. My friend appears in the beginning. She is inconsolable right now.

I see he was born in Bethesda, MD. Must have been a good guy.

I know Robert Gordon as a neo-rockabilly singer in the same broad category as the Stray Cats. Post 50s rockabilly didn't catch on much in the States but to this day, it's highly appreciated in Europe, especially Germany.
