Sprint LTE phones to arrive 'in the second half' of 2012 -- Engadget

I'm up for a new phone in April, but apparently will have at least a few months to agonize over the decision while I wait for LTE.
That is assuming we in the Raleigh area are among the early birds chosen 120 million faithful. But, we were in the 17 city 4G rollout, so I'm hoping...

This pretty much confirms what we've been speculating about for the past few months. My long-standing assertion that WiMax is on its death bed is now confirmed, at least for North America. No matter how you slice it, this is good news for consumers.

Pushing back LTE is good news for consumers? I don't see it that way. I dislike how in October they indicated second quarter of 2012 for LTE devices and now they release this news that it gets pushed back until second half of 2012.

I didn't realize they were pushing back their schedule. I'm just happy to see the industry is agreeing on a standard.

That's why this standardization is great news. Right now Verizon arguably has the largest and fastest 4G network out there. But imagine in a few years when everyone has more or less the same coverage, and carriers are forced to compete on speed & service.

I for one can't wait until we're sitting around the forum complaining about how slow our 250Mb/s connections are and how ridiculous a 5-petabyte data cap is.

2Q'11 ends 6/30/12...2H'12 begins 7/1/12 so technically they could release LTE in July instead of June not that big of a gap...

I would rather Sprint have all their ducks lined up and ready to go, instead of the Clusterf*** of a mess the Clearwire Wimax rollout had been...Plus we'll know about the Phones long before they're released.

I know one will probably be an EVO LTE, and a Galaxy Nexus upgrade.

I would like them to have their ducks lined up earlier than later.
